A Dog Sled Race

Last Saturday Mom, Matt, Laura, and I went to a dog sled race that takes place near Red Cliff.  It was a fun, new experience, and neat to see all the dogs, equipment, and sleds. We got to watch the mushers hook up there dogs and start the race!

Here is Ruth, a musher we know. She is the one who helped us find Matt’s dogs. She is at the start line and ready to go out on the family run, a 6-7 mile race.  (Sign says Start and the other side says Finish, because the trails are loops. – So even though it looks like she is crossing the finish line, she is actually just starting.)

There is also a youth race that uses the same track as the family run. Here are a couple kids ready to head out. The kids usually had 4 dogs pulling their sleds.

We watched all the mushers start, and then hung around and tried to stay warm for a while and then we got to see a bunch of them come back in.

Matt really enjoyed the day…

(And the rest of us did too.)
