In Colorado Day 5

In the morning Nate and I hiked along the Arkansas River, just outside of BV. Here is a picture of a mountain with the town in the valley.

On our way through town we saw 3 mule deer grazing in the school playground!

That afternoon we went out past Leadville. An old mining town that is still a town today. We went up in the mountains to were there were old mining structures and tailing piles. Tailings are what the miners didn’t want and made piles of it. I found it interesting that they usually sorted them. Today there are certain things in some of these piles that are useful, so in a few cases companies are going through these piles again and mining them again.

This one they didn’t even finish emptying. You can see how the different “bins” have different things in them.

The views from up there.
