Making maple syrup is one of our family projects. We all help tap the trees and collect the sap. When we get enough sap we boil it down to syrup. Here are a few pictures that I took yesterday as we boiled it down.
Boiling it down… Since it takes about 30 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup there is a lot of boiling involved.
Still boiling…
Family conference – syrup is close to done, so stick around!
Here Silas is testing it to see if it’s done.
It’s DONE! Pull it off the fire and pour it through the filter while it’s HOT!
YUM!
One of the best parts--- Licking the pan.
I didn’t get any pictures of Mom canning it because we had to go collect sap…
