Still enjoying semester break!

January is here bringing with it cold and wind…. Not my favorite weather since it’s not much fun to be outside, but I am finding plenty of things to do during my break from school. I got to help install the overhead door in our garage { hoping that maybe my car can have the privilege of being parked in there after all the junk gets moved has nothing to do with it! } I have also done some baking (cookies, bars and rolls), and a picture of my sourdough bread is below. Also I have done a couple more tatting projects and now I got some more thread so my next project can be some other color than off –white. Yesterday I went sledding with my little brothers, that was fun. I have also got to spend time helping my siblings with some school, getting caught up on music lessons and all the other things that happen around here. ( I have yet to be bored!! ) I even got Pride and Prejudice read.

I have also been spending time with my instruments. The past couple days Grace and I are having battles with our metronome, generally I can play with a metronome without too much trouble… But the Duck Dance is a different story, after about a 1/2 hour fight the first day I gave up. When we tried again the next day it went better, once we got with it we could play along pretty well. Today went okay but now we have to speed it up… So the battle continues!

Now my semester break is almost over. Classes start next week. Since I got a couple of my books this week I am starting to get excited. I know two of my teachers for this semester, and I have worked with both of them before. But I also have two new online teachers, whom I know nothing about, so I will see how they turn out.

It’s hard to believe it’s 2011. There are 4 dates this year that are all “ones”. There are 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, and 11/11/11. There will not be another year this happens in our life time.

As I look back and think about the past I can’t help but wonder about the future. What will happen this year? Will any big changes take place in my life? I am so thankful that I know that my Heavenly Father knows what the future holds and I can trust in Him to direct my paths.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Will we ever get the metronome conquered?

And for the new year - this thought from Amy Carmichael. "The best training is to learn to accept everything as it comes, as from Him who our soul loves."
