Here are some pictures from our camping trip to the Porcupine Mountains this last weekend.
Lake of the Clouds
Peaking through the roots of an uprooted tree.
An old copper mine that they leave open for bats to use, you can only go in a little ways. (We noticed how they put the sign about bats where you would see it before entering the mine. We figured that the possibility of bats being present probably was enough to keep quite a few people from going any further than the stairs. Not us!)
In the mine.
We spending some time on a very sandy Lake Superior shore. It was a nice weekend, so shoes came off, jeans were rolled up and some of us got a little wetter than intended…
Ready, set, jump the wave!
A great view, but trust me, it was a lot of work hike this trail up the mountain to take this picture. We hit the leaves at peak color and it was so beautiful.
We also stopped to see a couple waterfalls on our way home.
My younger siblings and I (Nate was fishing…)
We got to camp on a campground that was right on Lake Superior and we got up early enough to see the sunrise. – It was really, really pretty. But since I didn’t have my camera, you will just have to take my word for it.
It was a fun trip and I really enjoyed spending a weekend with my family. But it make me thankful for a God who cares about detail and made a beautiful world of colors…
