This last weekend our family took a trip to Madison to attend a cousin’s wedding. We stayed over night and then the next day after a leisurely breakfast with some of Dad’s family, we went to see the capital building. Since it was Sunday we didn’t think it would be open, so we were just going to walk around the outside. So we started walking, we had not gone very far when we saw people walking into the building. So we went to see and sure enough it was open. So we spent a good while exploring this building. This place was huge. I had no clue in my mind of how great and amazing this capital building is. I feel a little bit like Anne of Green Gables when she says “ Words can not describe…” ( Can you guess that we listened to this book on tape on our trip?) So here are a few pictures, but they really don’t do it justice.
Here is the inside of the dome. I think it was about 200 ft above me.

The pattern of the main floor as seen from an upper level.
The Badger,
There was an arch like this with the badger looking out at the end of the each of the four wings.
Back outside: After finishing our exploring inside we went back out side and walked the rest of the way around the capital building.

It was really neat!
It was fun!
Nice pictures! It looks like you had a good time at the capitol.
I remember visiting there several years ago and looking for all the ornamental badgers. In the Minnesota capital building there are gophers hidden in the woodwork! At least they weren't loons, which are not dignified enough for a capital building. : ) Looks like a fun trip!
